Wazan kam karna (وزن کم کرنا) is a goal for many people in Pakistan. Extra weight, especially around the belly, raises the risk of sugar, blood pressure, heart disease, fatty liver and joint pain. The internet is full of “lose 10 kg in 10 days” promises. This guide gives you an honest, practical approach that fits Pakistani food and life.
The honest truth first
No herb, tea or capsule melts fat on its own. Weight comes down when you eat a little less than your body uses and move more. Herbs and teas can support this routine by keeping you full, replacing sugary drinks and helping digestion. Be careful of any product that promises very fast weight loss, as some are mixed with harmful medicines.
A simple desi plan
- Morning: a glass of warm water. Tea with little or no sugar.
- Breakfast: 2 eggs or daliya, and one whole wheat roti instead of paratha.
- Lunch: fill half your plate with sabzi and salad, a quarter with daal or chicken, and a quarter with roti or rice. Eat one roti instead of two.
- Evening: green tea or darchini qehwa with a fruit or roasted chana, instead of samosa or biscuits.
- Dinner: light and early. Avoid eating late at night.
Herbs and drinks that support your plan
1. Green tea (سبز چائے)
A good replacement for sugary tea and soft drinks. Two to three cups a day is common. Avoid it late at night because it contains some caffeine.
2. Darchini (دار چینی) qehwa
Adds a sweet taste without sugar, which helps when you are cutting down on sweets.
3. Methi Dana (میتھی دانہ)
Soaked methi water in the morning is a popular habit. Methi is rich in fibre.
4. Isabgol (اسبغول)
A spoon of Isabgol in water before a meal adds fibre and helps you feel full, so you eat less. Always drink plenty of water with it.
5. Lemon water
A refreshing way to drink more water. It does not burn fat, but replacing cold drinks with lemon water saves a lot of sugar.
Move more, every day
- Walk 30 to 45 minutes daily. Start with 15 minutes and build up.
- Take stairs instead of lifts
- Walk for 10 minutes after dinner
- Try simple home exercises: squats, wall push ups and stretching
Common weight loss myths
- Myth: “Skipping breakfast helps weight loss.” Fact: it often leads to overeating later.
- Myth: “Desi ghee must be completely stopped.” Fact: small amounts are fine. The total amount of oil and ghee matters.
- Myth: “Belly fat can be targeted with one exercise.” Fact: fat reduces from the whole body with diet and activity.
- Myth: “Slimming teas are enough.” Fact: many only cause water loss or loose motions, not fat loss.
A realistic goal
Losing half to one kilogram a week is healthy and more likely to last. Even a 5 to 10 percent weight loss can improve sugar, blood pressure and joint pain. If you have a health condition, talk to your doctor before starting.
